Real life weddings of the week!
Oh wow have i got some treats today! Earlier this week i joined twitter and it introduced me to a whole variety of blogs i'd never checked out before and i now follow 70 on a daily basis! Here are my best weddings from the week with some entries from some great new blogs.
Note: Blogger decided to screw me over a bit today and not let me upload any pictures? I managed to get a way i could upload them from their URL's but there were a few pictures i couldn't find URLs for and there are a few sites where the URL covered quite a few pictures and i couldn't edit them down!
I open this post with a beautiful wedding at the most gorgeous venue! The groom was sailing around the world as part of an international yacht race so they stopped on the way to get married...in Cape Town! This was a two parter by Bijoux Bride so check out part one then head over to part two!
This just seems like such a beautiful location for a wedding and i love all the fresh colours that have been throughout the wedding. I adore the group shot because it's actually such a rare shot to see these days. This wedding can be found at green wedding shoes.
Punk rock hippy. What an amazing wedding! I just love how the details look so stunning yet so effortless. What a true bride rock star to be able to carry that off! The full wedding is at rock n roll bride.
For some reason i couldn't get any URL's for this wedding but it is a wedding full of character with so many great details. What's more is so many of the details are unique and not overdone, i am so in love with the styling of this wedding and there is lots more to see over at style me pretty.
Although my own colour scheme is totally different i have to say i think yellow is one of my favourite colours to see in others weddings, it just looks so amazing in the photos. This wedding makes such great use of the colour and the photography is phenomenal! The wedding is at oh lovely day.

My week in pics, how to pose in pics, dessert tables galore, starbucks and sombreros!
It's been the most beautiful week! Loving this view from my balcony last night. However today i totally overheated at work and fainted! I was lying down on the floor in the kitchen...i don't even want to think what's in my hair right now plus i was wearing a really short dress....oh dear. Anywho (is that a word?!) it's been a fab week regardless!
On Monday night i went out with my fab lil besty for cocktails. I think we drunk revolutions dry. We then went and got a chicken burger and stuck about a litre of garlic mayo on it. We were safe from the vampires that night!
On Wednesday me and the boy went into town and he took me to Vivienne Westwood where he treated me to my wedding shoes!! Woop woop!! They are perfect...but you wont be seeing them until the wedding day :-P. Another thing on the list crossed off!
Then on Friday i went out again, this time for cocktails (of course its routine) but a bit of dancing as well. It was raining all night though, how can it be lovely and rain exactly when you NEED it not too! English weather for you! When i check in next Monday the boy and I would have had our engagement shoot! So cannot wait to share with you how that went. So what's been in the world of blogs this week?

Gay marriage
With this week came the fab news that gay marriage is now legal in New York. About time! I've never been New York so most of my opinions of what its like has been formed from 'sex and the city' and 'friends' but i would think they would be strong believers in rights for the gay community. In celebration of this achievement my post today is about civil partnerships.
- What is a civil partnership?
- Choosing a venue
- If you're religious
- What happens with the processional?
- Who wears what?
- Who pays for what?
- Changing your names

Supplier focus: Top 7 decor sites
The great thing about a decor site is it holds loads of miscellaneous stuff for all your wedding needs. I love having a browse around, getting ideas and sometimes finding things i didn't think of. Plus these kind of sites are THE best way to inspire DIY projects. Why 7 and not 10? Because these 7 really stood out and i was struggling to find another 3 up to this kind of standard! Here are some of my favourite sites for you to use to procrastinate as well! I mean what's a better way to spend time, housework and paying bills or looking at cake toppers? That hoovering isn;t going to make your cake look nice!
1. Velvet wedding
They really have a bit of everything from garlands to favours to bunting and table decorations. You can shop by theme which includes 'traditional vintage, 'royal Britania', 'monochrome', 'colourful exotic', 'feminine romantic' and 'country floral'. I mean that really covers a lot of bases! I adore their french vintage style glass bottles, i think they would look so sweet with single flowers in them.
2. The 50s wedding shop
This Amazon store sells 50s style decorations so perfect for my wedding and i'm sure loads others because its such a popular theme! It also sells loads of others stuff such as the black cupcake stand, which i love, its very dramatic and i am finding a way to get the lollipot in my life!
3. Vintage Amethyst
A boutique for home and gift items which is super pretty. They have a wedding day collection but a lot of the home items could easily be incorporated into wedding decor. The cake stand is exactly the type i want and i love how they photograph their items as well, super purrttty.
4. Very Fabulous
Well the name says it all! With their range divided into categories such as 'darling decor', 'fabulous finishes' and 'irresistibly indulgent' i knew i was going to love this shop and i wasn't wrong. I really want to buy the ruffled bag and i love how the card frame is made from vintage cards from the 1930s!

DIY DIVA: Drink Stirrers/ Straws
Ok so my last three DIY blogs have been about cupcake toppers, cake pops and cake stands so when my first thought today was to do homemade cakes i realised maybe i need to step away from the cake area because clearly i'm becoming obsessed. So instead i'm writing about how to brighten up my second favourite thing...cocktails! Drink stirrers and straws are great DIY projects because they can range from complicated to very simple and are pretty cheap to make as well but with much effect.
Just a little tip: When looking at drink stirrers remember to consider the type of glass you will be serving the drinks from and what height it will be.
The above picture shows some gorgeous stirrers from the inspired bride which look the most complicated yet are so simple. They use sequined star appliques and BBQ skewers and they do really complement the pink lemonade!
The inspiration for these stirrers (ok not joking i wrote cake stirrers then had to delete it, what's wrong with me?!) are the fireworks from 4th of July however these would work in any colour scheme and would look great in a winter wedding. The hostess blog shows you how they can be made.
I love seeing weddings with these kind of straws, they just look so cute but this tutorial at so you're engayged is really cute because it shows a simple way to make it personal as well.
These are so cute and so easy to make. You could have them in such a wide range of colours and could even put your initials in the middle or add a sticker or something. Nata and Jess give you the full lowdown on how to make them.
So purty! These are also really really super easy and i love the idea of putting each guests initials on the drinks so that they can locate them. This can be found at project wedding.
Another something to be found at project wedding and this tutorial includes a cute template to download with phrases such as 'drink up' and 'secret family recipe'. Isnt that adorable?

Real life weddings of the week!

This week def has a theme and that's colour! I've seen such a flurry of colourful weddings this week and what more appropriate for the first official week of summer! I love colour in a wedding, which might explain why we have 19 weddings this week. I know, right. Can you believe when i first started this post i thought i would be able to choose one wedding a week? That was never going to happen!
The first wedding we have today is just an amazing superhero themed wedding. From their 'first look' which has the bride coming up an elevator to the groom waiting at the top to the amazing style of photography to the pez dispensers (i'm a huge pez fan!) to the blackboard wall to the cereal bar (as in like a candy bar) to one of the most amazing first dances ever this is just an amazing and fun wedding from start to finish and i adore it sooo much! You must check it out now at green wedding shoes.
I love origami birds, its something i've featured before in a diy post and the use of origami birds in this wedding just made me fall in love. I also loved how they provided sparklers for guests for the send off, it makes such a great picture! The full wedding is at ruffled.
This is just an amazing wedding dress, it suits the bride so well and was adapted from her mums original 32 year old dress, how cute. It shows how something can be reinvented into something totally funky! Love the photography in this wedding as well, some very dramatic shots. The full wedding is at love my dress.
A wedding time capsule was created at this wedding to be opened on the couples 5 year anniversary. Why haven't i seen that before?! What an amazing idea. I love how country and home grown and organic this wedding looked, its so cute i found it like a photo shoot. See the whole wedding at style me pretty.
